Father's Day Message

So many things are taking for granted in our daily lives that we let things rush by us. Twenty three years ago this month, I lost my father during a routine medical procedure. I was only twenty years old and had to grow up real fast but in doing so I grew up with some anger inside of me. It wasn’t until I met my wife that I began a new journey, a walk with Christ. It is because of this walk, that I have made changes in my life with the intent on breaking some chains of the past and building towards a God loving life. It is this journey that has allowed me to let go of that anger and live a life that is guided by God’s work and words. Today is Father’s day and we as earthly fathers are being given praise for the things that we do for our family day in and day out. Some will let this day be about rest and relaxation; others will use it for other reasons. I am thankful for the earthly father that I had for a short period of time but I am more thankful for the Heavenly Father that I have that helps guide me each day. I know that my spiritual walk is not without mistakes and I am thankful that God forgives me for some of these mistakes. I know that while I worry about what tomorrow might bring, I must trust that God will take care of each day as it approaches and that I must live in the moment with my earthly family.

Two years ago, I saw a movie that was a slap in the face and set me in a new direction. With that direction came a journey that includes two great friends and we work together to keep each other accountable for what we are doing as earthly fathers. We have each seen an addition to our families and try to be that spiritual rock, or in some cases, that kick in the butt to put us back in the right direction.  To my great friends, Happy Father’s Day! To my heavenly Father, thank you for Your grace and mercy as I know at times I do not deserve it. I know that I must trust Your words and Your plan for me with the intent in living in Your honor.
