Chapter 15: Resolve to Leave a Legacy:
When I first began reading
the Resolution for Men, I did so because I need to make a change in my life. I started
because of how hard I was slapped in the face by the movie Courageous. I knew
after watching that movie that I needed to make some changes that would benefit
my life but my family as well. And I know for a fact that I am behind when it
comes to my legacy. I did not grow up in a church and it was not until I met my
wife that I found my faith in God and began to learn about His Son and my savior
Jesus Christ. For my wife, I am thankful that God put her in my life and that
she has been a strong influence on where I want to take my life to and the
legacy that I want to leave. I know that I have just a short period of time to
influence my children and I am going to do the best I can to guide them in the
right direction. In this case I have broken the chains and I am working on
building a positive legacy. I do not fault my father for the legacy he left
behind. I have taken the action to forgive him for the legacy he left and I am
taking the steps necessary to change my family legacy. This is what this last
chapter is all about. What kind of legacy do you want to leave?
Scripture: Therefore,
my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immoveable, always abounding in the work of
the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord. – 1 Corinthians
15:58
What kind of legacy am I leaving: I am teaching my kids about God and His Son Jesus
Christ and want them to know that God rewards those that our faithful, forgives
those that sin, and that He desires that we teach others of His works. I want
my family to praise Him in all that happens in our lives; whether it is good or
bad.
